Troy Ave - New York City (The Album)

As the new front-runner for the less-than-effective "Bring New York Back" movement, Troy Ave has been making quite a name for himself in the past year or so. Before hearing this album, I had only heard him from a few features, not really paying much attention. When this album dropped digitally, for free, I decided to give him a chance. I was initially skeptical of him because of his connection with a movement which I feel is  slightly arrogant, dictating that New York artists with a "traditional" New York sound should be first in line for success. As a New Yorker who appreciates all sub-genres of rap, regardless of region, I strongly disagree with those sentiments. Regardless, I decided to give Troy's album a chance, and was pleasantly surprised by what I heard.

Lloyd Banks - F.N.O. (Failure's No Option) (Mixtape)

Lloyd Banks comes through with yet another mixtape, his thirteenth overall, with F.N.O. (Failure's No Option). Following the success of his Mo' Money In The Bank & 5 And Better series', this one is the first entry in his A.O.N. (All Or Nothing) series. In my opinion, this tape continues to showcase why Banks is criminally slept on, and why he should be mentioned in peoples' top 10 lists more often. Lyrically, Banks leaves little to be desired, showing his penchant for next-level punch lines, multisyllabics, intricate flows, and even glimpses of thought-provoking lyrics, all while continuing to be somewhat "accessible" (although his talent for making catchy club-bangers with great hooks is definitely utilized more on his albums). All in all, this is high-caliber street music. Although The production can occasionally vary in quality, overall, the instrumentals have a strong cohesion, giving the tape a more "album"-like feel, which is a trend that seems to have started on Banks' Cold Corner 2. Lloyd is definitely a contender for "Best Mixtape Catalog Ever", and this tape is definitely another notch added to his belt. DOWNLOAD HERE.

Honest Abe - Bug in a Cup (Music Video)

Peep these trippy visuals for New York native Honest Abe's latest song. The production perfectly lays down the foundation for the eerie vocals, while the video leaves little to be desired. One of the rare moments where the song and video alone can induce similar feelings and thoughts on the audience. Enjoy. Bless.

Hoddy, The young Jedi - Organized Bullshit (Review)

I stumble upon music at such a dramatic rate that sometimes it's hard keeping up. Today I present to you Hoddy, The Young Jedi, and his lastest project Oragnized Bullshit, released a little more than a year ago. More after the jump.

GHOSTFACE KILLAH x MONTREALITY /// In-Depth Interview

One of the realest, most inspiring interviews I've ever seen. Saw this many months ago, but I figured it was worth sharing now that I have an outlet for stuff like this. GFK drops gem after gem, and you can tell he has a genuine passion and purpose for the knowledge he's trying to share, even if you may not agree with everything he says. A MUST WATCH.
